About PROJECT Krish

Project Krish is an initiative taken by the team of BhaktivedantaGurukula and International School, which is the educational division of ISKCON (operational since 1976). Renowned scholar and devotee A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder-acharya of ISKCON, established Gurukula.

The word KRISH has been derived from the word Krishi which in hindi means “cultivation. Krish is the orginalsanskrit word for dhatu. Krish means to attract. Many words such as Krishi, karshan, sankarshan, Krishak, Krishna are all derived from this word. So at Krish we are working to attract qualified village youth to country life where they will be engaged in organic farming education and health care.

This project is conceived for the overall cultivation of the rural population, especially girls. At Krish, we have a holistic approach that is suitable in a village environment and is combination of traditional and modern values. We aim to stop the exodus of people from villages to cities by making people believe in themselves and their skill set. We want to create more opportunities for village people, especially women to live a self-sustainable life. We do this by educating them, and providing the vocational training. We hope to go a long way on this path and with your support, make a real difference in the lives of people.

Currently we are running projects pertaining to education, vocational training, organic farming, and cow protection etc in the villages of Vraja.
